SAN FRANCISCO – Marc Benioff’s big address to the thousands gathered for his Salesforce annual conference Wednesday featured Hawaiian conch-blowing, a Stevie Wonder performance, and a guy dressed like a lightning bolt.
But for all the showmanship, the two-hour presentation boiled down to pure business. The message: the world is imploding with data, and Salesforce intends to be the dominant cloud-based data synthesizer to help companies increase sales.
“With the Internet of Things, I’m more connected than ever,” Benioff told the crowd at the city’s Moscone Center, channeling a bit of Steve Jobs’ mojo as he acted as combination emcee and company cheerleader. “It’s truly a customer revolution.”
